Tidal with MyVolumio Playing Wrong Track

Hello,

I’ve recently subscribed to MyVolumio and started using Tidal with it. After a period of time playing tracks from a Tidal playlist, skipping t the next track sometimes plays the wrong track, and makes the UI confused and unresponsive. To make things worse, the tracks that play instead of the desired tracks seem to be consistent and contain some language inappropriate for children.

Rebooting the Raspberry PI seems to resolve the issue for a while. I’ve been able to reproduce this 3 times in the last 24 hours. It seems to be related to playing Tidal for a long period of time and/or pausing playback for a long period of time and resuming. In all cases, the problem happens when I try to skip to the next track.

I’m using a Raspberry PI 3 B+, Volumio 2.522, and Touch Display plugin 1.0.0.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Here’s a log file I created when it happened again:

http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/wl31fNF.html

I believe this has to do with the playlist from Tidal including an “undefined” track, and Volumio replacing the URI with a local track from my NAS volume. Here’s the offending playlist item:

17. undefined
Service: streaming_services Uri: resources.tidal.com/images//640x640.jpg

This is what gets played instead of the actual track:

{“status”:“pause”,“position”:17,“title”:"",“artist”:"",“albumart”:“https://resources.tidal.com/images//640x640.jpg",“uri”:"NAS/Music/08ricky Martin - Almas Del Silencio - Juramento.mp3”,“trackType”:“mp3”,“seek”:21424,“duration”:211,“channels”:2,“random”:null,“repeat”:false,“repeatSingle”:false,“consume”:true,“volume”:35,“mute”:false,“disableVolumeControl”:false,“stream”:false,“updatedb”:false,“volatile”:false,“service”:“mpd”}

As you can see, it’s playing from the “NAS” volume, rather than Tidal.

Thanks

Thank you very much for your detailed report!

I could not locate the offending track in the log file, is it possible for you to give one more pointer at the exact timing it happens on the log?
This will be looked after asap

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Here’s another log file from when this happens:

http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/pGU0Qzt.html

This happened on track #1 (second track). Here are the details from the /dev/ page on the volumio player:

Hi again,

I updated to the latest Volumio release today (2.526) because it indicated that the issue with Tidal playback I was having was fixed. Unfortunately, Tidal playback isn’t working at all after the update. I can browse music and see playlists, but attempting to play a playlist or track results on nothing playing back. Here’s a log form attempting to play a playlist: http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/hz8kAFY.html

Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Thanks,
Randy

Also, I noticed that the version of Volumio installed with the update is 2.526 (shown in the System Version information of the System page in the UI), but the changelog on this website (https://volumio.org/forum/changelog-t1575.html) indicates is should be 2.527. The Raspberry Pi download page (https://volumio.org/get-started/#pi) shows 2.526, but the Asus Tinkerboard download page (https://volumio.org/get-started/#tinkerboard) shows 2.527. Did the wrong version for Raspberry Pi get released?

Thanks,
Randy

Update: I completely rebuilt my Volumio installation with the official image and everything seems to work now. I believe the issue may have been the MPD service not starting properly after the latest Volumio upgrade. This was most likely due to previously performing “sudo apt-get upgrade” on the operating system, removing or upgrading a dependency of MPD such that it was missing or incompatible. I’ll avoid upgrading the entire OS in the future, and stick to individual package installations.

Thanks,
Randy

Hi All, Love your work.
I also seem to have an issue playing some tracks on Tidal. In summary, I have installed the latest version 2.526 with a new memory card, and when I play Concerto de Aranjuez, Paco de Lucia, Tracks 1,3,4 and 6 play OK, but not tracks 2 or 5, when I receive the message “Asset is not available in users location”. (I have contacted Tidal and they advise the tracks are OK, and this is confirmed when I play the album from my phone or computer direct from Tidal. The issue only occurs when I use my Allo Digione Signature running Volumio.) The relevant log is: logs.volumio.org/volumio/oNNhq3j.html
Times are 9:59 am AEST - Select Album from Tidal; 10:00 Play album; 10:01 select next track (track 2), message shown “Asset not available in users location”; 10:02 try to play track 2 from queue, message shown “Asset not available in users location”; 10:03 select track 5, plays track 6. This issue seems to occur with about 1 in 50 tracks. The above behavior was similar with previous versions if no memory stick installed. However with a memory stick installed, on previous versions a specific track on the memory stick would be played when tracks 2 or 5 were selected. With this version this does not happen, just the error message. I hope this is of assistance.
