    Question

    (verified owner)

I want to have access to my mp3 collection without need for an internet connection. Can I work with the Volumio hotspot only, or do I have to configure it to go over my WiFi? Can I load my music files onto the SD card before putting it into my Raspberry Pi?

Sure you can. Just copy the files to the micro sd via the network Share that Volumio creates. And when you want to use it, just connect to the hotspot.

4 out of 5 Works with little technical knowledge

    (verified owner)

I just wanted a player for my digital music collection, and this player does the trick. It was the first Raspberry Pi experience for me and it went fairly smoothly. Here are a few little points that weren’t clear to me or didn’t work when I got it:
    – the case that was delivered had a piece missing. I was sent another case as soon as I complained about it. Thank you.
    – I expected volumio to be pre-installed on the flash card in the bundle. When I put it in, nothing happened, so I downloaded Volumio and put it on the card myself now it worked.
    – careful with the WiFi: when I entered a wrong password, I didn’t know how to get back into the system… So I flashed the card again to reset the configurations.
    – Now I realise that buttons would be great. If you don’t want to have it running constantly, you have to shut down and turn off on the socket switch (luckily UK sockets have them).

I like the fact that if I ever feel I don’t need the music system anymore, I can still use the Raspberry part for something else – or if I feel the lack of a button is too annoying, I could look into tinkering around with all the Raspberry accessories that are available…

I’m happy with the product and enjoyed “tinkering” around with some electronics without having to know everything and without having buy a full soldering kit…

    Question

    (verified owner)

What is the difference in raspi jack output and this one? I will connect this to an amplifier of existing system.
Does volumio run without this hardware add on?
    Thanks

The Raspi Jack output is really poor in term of quality, this instead is much much better. Volumio runs however also without this add-on, but as I said, SQ will be greatly reduced

5 out of 5 Incredible sound quality

    (verified owner)

My old Rotel amp got a new life when playing FLAC through this beauty (from my NAS). The kit is super easy to configure. Can’t complain at all! The sound quality is simply amazing. I like the actual case as well, it doesn’t look bad. And it’s made in Scotland which is great! Respect. A good purchase with super-fast delivery!
