Raspberry PI models vs IQAudio PI DAC

Hello

What are the performance differences I can expect - and in what areas - when using an IQUadio PI DAC onto

  • a Raspberry PI 3
  • a Raspberry PI 1 B (not B+)
  • a Raspberry PI Zero (in such case, adopting the appropriate IQA board model)

Will there be any “audio” differences? Or will all differences be confined to where they can be logically expected which is on VolumeIO “system” performances (UI speed, bootup time, file sharing time, etc).

Thanks in advance for any ideas

Best,
Alberto

If you are just changing pi models the differences should really be in the UI performance. Be sure your DAC will work with a 26-pin Pi 1B, and sometimes the DAC models for the Pi zero have fewer power conditioners and such.

Will you hear a difference? That depends on the rest of the links in your audio equipment chain, but if you have the choice, go with the Pi 3, you won’t regret it.
