HiFi DAC PiCobber for Raspberry Pi

Has anybody tested or reviewed this new dac named PICOBBER? or has an opinion on the specs?

HiFi DAC PiCobber for Raspberry Pi

geekroo.com/1034

I cant make up my mind if i should buy the PI-DAC from IQaudIO
tindie.com/products/IQaudIO … pberry-pi/

or the Picobber

My recommendation is PI-DAC from IQaudIO because the specs of chip DAC is better, PiCobber use a TI Burr Brown PCM5102A (iqaudio.com/?page_id=343). I have a Pi-DAC and their sound its really really GOOD!!.

HiFiBerry (hifiberry.com/dac) has same a TI Burr Brown PCM5102A

My configuration is:

WD My Cloud 4TB (Music is format FLAC & mp3 320)
Raspberry PI + Pi-DAC IQAudio
Fiio e12 (only as amplifier, not as DAC)
Grados sr80i | AIAIAIA TMA-1 | Sennheiser HD598 | Pionner HDJ500

Thnx for the reply i know know what to do

i must admit to doesnt see why for you these two products are better …

Hifiberrydac using the same dac seems to have far fewer audio components (or maybe i’ve to seen someone about about my vision and electronic knowledge).

furthermore it seems easy to find a case in a few click …

I know remember why i hate forums …

Hi IRoN,

The Raspberry Pi is pretty noisy. On the IQaudIO Pi-DAC we’ve put some effort into isolating this noise from the audio circuitry, that and the fact that the PCM5122 is a larger beast requiring I2C control also adds to the component count.

Check out the Pi-DAC section of our web site to see the THD graphs.

HTH,

I do not want start a controversy.

I was just intrigued with the criteria of the response that seems “thin” to me.

What exactly did you feel was thin?

we’re all here to help and educate each other. Overall it’s the enjoyment of the music and how we interact with it that’s important.

How do I connect to the I2S DAC PiCobber Raspberry B +?

By wire this board is made to connect to the GPIO P5 of the B not the B+
