currently I’m about to finish my Volumio + Sabre ES9018 hardware where DAC is connected directly to Rpi3 I2S in ASYNC mode.
Unfortunately, while tested, and, later, confirmed in this site I’ve discovered that no direct DSD via I2S possible at the moment.
DSD is always resampling to 192K for I2S.
So the proposal is to made a config option allowing to disable DSD resampling for I2S.
Simple: I2S DACs cannot as of now play direct DSD. Therefore mpd resamples down to the biggest sample rate your DAC accepts (192).
So no, this is not possible.
