I´m Udo and my DIY Project is a Battery-only powered Allo DAC 2.1 based system. Installation base:
- Sparky w/ Volumio
- Isolator
- Kali Reclocker
- Attenuator - Board
- Volt Amp
Like DSD´s very much 
The system is Battery-only powered only. NiMH - Battery NOT LiOn!!! Why? Well, see the pictures… As a first step, I thought it might be a great idea to go for LiOn, high-Power, charging electronic implemented etc. And then, I´ve had to drill another 2mm hole into the chassis. Unfortunately I was hitting the LiOn Accu. It burned in 2-3 seconds, enormously. Unbelievable! No doubt, it was my fault, but: I don´t like the feeling of being at work and have those kind of “fire generators” at home. Puhhh… However, with NiMh it´s much more effort, you need a separate charging electronic etc. But the battery cannot burn, as far as I know, what ever you do with it.
Switching off the unit will automatically start the charging process. 99% of the electronics are standard parts from electronic shops. No rocket science. The sound is incredible, wow!
