[Solved] Volumio 1.5 and MPD updating

Hi,

updating the mpd dtabase seems to be taking for ages. I noticed an earlier post about turning the ffmpeg plugin off in mpd.conf, but this doesn’t seem to help. The mpd.log file does show errors:

Repeated lines of the form:

Oct 31 13:29 : client: [373] closed Oct 31 13:29 : client: [374] opened from 127.0.0.1:53641 Oct 31 13:29 : client: [374] closed Oct 31 13:29 : client: [375] opened from 127.0.0.1:53642 Oct 31 13:29 : client: [375] closed Oct 31 13:29 : client: [376] opened from 127.0.0.1:53643

and then:

error: Giving up searching valid MPEG header after 65536 bytes of junk.

which sounds like mpd not liking certain file info. Can mpd be told to switch off this behaviour or is there another solution?

Not sure about the error, but I think the repeated lines are from the “monit” process checking in on the state of MPD every few seconds.

So, I decided the problem was bad info in one or more of my MP3s. I used mp3diags (Linux, but I think it is probably available for Windows/Mac too) to fix the malformed files & everything is great now. Spotify support and mpd updating in a reasonable time … what more could I ask for. It did take up most of my day though :wink:
