transientlog: Permission denied

On both boot and shutdown, I always see the log entry “transient log: Permission denied”.

When I check /etc/init.d/transientlog, it appears as if the execute flags are missing. Fixed this (sudo chmod 755 /etc/init.d/transientlog), and the log entries are gone.

No idea if this has any significance, but at least there is one log entry less to worry about

Same here.

Can someone please quickly tell me what transientlog does?

Thanks
