Put HDD in sleep mode after some period of time

If the HDD (connected via USB at least) could be put into sleep mode after some period without any music playback, and then woken up when playback is again started, I could save some power, minimize wear on my HDD, and avoid turning it off and rebooting the system so often.

I assume this would be possible. If so, it would sure be a welcome addition.
